Path dependent: positioning Ukrainian war memorials in a post-Soviet landscape

چکیده

This article analyzes the impact of Soviet memorials to Great Patriotic War in Poltava oblast (central Ukraine) on positioning new war post-Soviet urban landscape. Focusing two key factors (availability sites and their symbolic potency), shows that played an important role how Soviet–Afghan were positioned landscape independent Ukraine, this prepared ground for present-day discussions about most appropriate way position Russia–Ukraine conflict. The contributes importance monument-building elucidates path-dependent nature commemorations.
